Mindful of Race

I love this book both as a teacher and as a student. It offers the reader practical insights on the topic of race and racial justice as it pertains to the healing arts. Healing spaces must engage with this topic in a way that is informed and aware.

As students, we arrive on our mats with open minds and hearts. As teachers, it’s our responsibility to create a space that is welcoming and healing for all.

How to Meditate

I like to re-read sections of this book, it’s full of simple tips. I love the section that offers using emotions as the object of focus during Meditation. Emotions not as a mental story, or a reaction, but as an energy. Noticing sensation, heat, tension, heaviness or softness that resides in the body without judgement.

This introduced me to observing feelings in a new and expansive way.

Activate your Vagus Nerve

Have you ever wondered why breathing has such an effect on your body?

Take one deep breath right now, let your belly expand as you inhale and fall as you exhale.

Do you feel different?

There is so much chemistry happening within you right now!

I love learning about the mechanics behind ancient healing techniques like Yoga, Mediation, and Breath Work. This book is the science behind the healing. I was diagnosed with graves disease over 14 years ago, I’ve found that along with a healthy lifestyle my Pranayama practice is a vital factor in the enduring health that I enjoy today.
